Motorola is expanding the Edge 50 series with two new models for the mid-range. In addition to a basic version, there will also be an Edge 50 Neo.

Earlier this year, Motorola launched the Edge 50 Pro, Ultra and Fusion, and today it launches two models. The Edge 50 without a suffix and the Edge 50 Neo are priced between the Pro and the cheapest Fusion. There is no shortage of creative color options: The Edge 50 Neo appears in the color options as Poinciana or barthe Edge 50 in “jungle green” or “koala grey”.

Motorola has also thought about the robustness of the device. The manufacturer states that the device meets military durability requirements with the MIL-STD-810H rating. The device also has an IP68 protection rating. The Edge 50 has a borderless 6.7-inch OLED display, while the Edge 50 measures 6.4 inches.

Edge 50 and Edge 50 Neo

Both devices share a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom range and a 13MP wide-angle lens. Motorola itself likes to point out the artificial possibilities of spicing up its photos. The charging power of both devices is also the same, with 68W and 15W wireless charging. To the list of identical similarities we also add 512GB storage and 12GB RAM.

Of course, there are differences. The Edge 50 has a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, while the Neo is powered by a MediaTek processor. Motorola’s update policy does not equalize the devices: The Edge 50 Neo receives five years of updates, while the Edge 50 has to make do with a meager three years.

Both devices will be available from the second half of September. The Edge 50 Neo costs 499 euros and is the second cheapest model in the series after the Fusion. With a price of 599 euros, the Edge 50 is in the middle range.

Moto g55 and g35

In addition to the two Edge 50 models, Motorola is announcing two new budget devices. The Moto G55 and G35 are intended to offer a balanced package of specifications at an affordable price. The Moto G55 starts at 249 euros, while the G35 even falls below the 200 euro mark at 179 euros.
