Google follows in OpenAI’s footsteps and launches five Gems chatbots for specific tasks. Users can also create a custom chatbot themselves.
Google is introducing a new feature to the Gemini chatbot. Gems chatbots are being added. These are customized chatbots that can perform specific tasks. This allows users to create their own Gems or try out Google’s pre-built five Gems. This feature is available for Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise subscribers and will be rolling out in the coming days.
Google is launching the Gems chatbots, first announced at the I/O event in May. These gems allow users with a specific level of expertise to create homemade chatbots. To help users get started, Google has created five: a learning coach, an idea brainstormer, a career advisor, a coding buddy, and an editor.
Gems are rolling out gradually to the Gemini mobile app, so they may not be visible to you right now. Additionally, a Gemini Advanced, Business, or Enterprise subscription is required. In this guide, Google walks you through the process of creating your own Gems chatbot.
Google follows in the footsteps of OpenAI, which has long offered the ability to create your own chatbots. OpenAI goes a step further and opened a GPT store a few months ago where custom GPTs can be shared and sold.
