Over the past 10 years, Amazon has repeatedly shared its plans to launch drone delivery in the future. And apparently, the company is ready to move from words to actions.
Representatives of the largest online store in the United States announced the start of delivery of goods by drones in the town of Lockford, California. By the end of 2022, city residents will be able to receive parcels with the goods.
Amazon claims there are “thousands of options” for unusual delivery. It is important to note that this is not very heavy loads, most likely weighing no more than a few kilograms.
It should be noted that the attempt may be revoked if banned by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
It will be remembered that the first announcement of such a service was made in 2013 by former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos. Since then, the Prime Air drone with a vertical takeoff has managed to get a complete redesign.
