At least 86 Teens Released From Prison in Venezuela in the last hours after his arrest in the midst of the crisis that unfolded after the interrogation re-election of President Nicolas MaduroThis was reported by the human rights organization (NGO) Foro Penal.

In late July, an election judge declared Maduro the winner of the presidential election without providing full results or verifiable records. The opposition and various countries in the Americas, including the United States, refused to recognize the victory and asked the government to release detailed voting results.

Foro Penal Vice President Gonzalo Himiob assured that several young people were released in accordance with precautionary measures.

He Ministry of Communications and the Venezuelan Justice Ministry did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

“Maduro has not only condemned our children to exile, poverty and lack of opportunities; he has also condemned them to violence and imprisonment, regardless of age or origin,” opposition leader Maria Corina Machado wrote on her X account.

“In the last few hours, following worldwide outrage, many have been released, but others remain abducted. Their stories are the most heartbreaking testimony terrorism states in Venezuela,” he added.

Maduro, 61, has ruled Venezuela since 2013 following the death of former President Hugo Chavez. The current president was re-elected in 2018 after about disputed elections rejected by a significant part of the international community due to the lack of transparency and electoral guarantees.
