AMD launched the Ryzen 9000 in two phases. The Ryzen 5 9600X and Ryzen 7 9700X arrived first on August 8, and the Ryzen 9 9900X and Ryzen 9 9950X launched on August 15. Very little time has passed since these four models hit the market, but their price in some stores by up to 12%.
If you haven’t been aware of what’s been going on for the past few weeks, you might be wondering what happened to make it happen, and don’t worry, I won’t leave you wondering. To understand this, we have to go back to the publication of the first analyzes of the Ryzen 9000, since then there was an important disputebecause some media had problems and recorded very low performance data.
In my analyses I have had some very good results in professional applications and in synthetic tests. I always include screenshots of these results so that you can clearly see the results compared and so that you can verify that all results are absolutely true and reliable, which not all media outlets do, as most simply publish a graph of the results.
It’s true that in gaming the Ryzen 9000 didn’t live up to the expectations that AMD generated when they talked about up to 16% CPI improvement, but the generation leap wasn’t bad in that sense either, because if I remember correctly, yes, on average, about 8% compared to the previous generation. This figure may vary depending on the kits used and may fluctuate slightly when performing different passes. The one that performed best in games was the Ryzen 7 9700X.
All these controversies have negatively affected Ryzen 9000 sales, but I think the most important in this sense is the price of Ryzen 7000 which is so good causing this generation to leave AMD’s new processors without a place. It’s very easy to understand, Ryzen 5 7600 can be bought for around 200 euros and with PBO we can get a little more power for free.
Its performance is almost identical to that of Ryzen 7600X if we activate PBO, and the difference with Ryzen 5 9600X will be between 4% and 8%according to various analyzes that I have had the opportunity to see, since I did not have time to analyze this model. This difference in performance means that the average user would rather spend 200 euros and put up with slightly lower performance to save the additional 100 euros that the Ryzen 5 9600X costs.
To support sales, the price of Ryzen 9000 has already started to drop in several countries and some retailers are offering some pretty interesting promotions, but the prices Unfortunately, they are still quite inflated in Spainand it’s a shame because they were below MSRP when they launched.
The American market has nothing to do with the Spanish one. In this one Ryzen 9000 prices have dropped again, and depending on each specific model, we can find a discount of up to 12% compared to the introductory price. For example, the Ryzen 5 9600X can be found starting at $259.99, which is 7.1% cheaper, while the Ryzen 7 9700X is 2.7% cheaper and can be purchased from $349.
The Ryzen 9 9900X is the one that has dropped the most, with a 12% discount and can be bought from $439.99. Ryzen 9 9950X can be obtained from $619.994.6% less than at launch. It is very likely that the prices of these processors will drop again with the launch of the Ryzen 9000X3D planned for the end of this year.
