After a series of leaks GoPro has officially confirmed the launch date of its next-generation action cameras. A teaser video posted on Company X’s account reveals that September 4 will be the big day for the launch of two new Hero models.
The confirmation came after a hands-on video was leaked by whistleblower Igor Bogdanov, giving a good look at the design. GoPro Hero 13 BlackThe video shows a front-facing display bearing “13 BLACK” branding, and the action camera has the familiar power/mode button next to the camera sensor and heatsink.

In terms of specifications, leaks suggest that the Hero 13 Black will retain the same 27-megapixel sensor as its predecessor. Video recording capabilities are also likely to remain the same: 5.3K at 60 FPS and 4K at 120 FPS. It is also expected to carry over the HyperSmooth 6.0 image stabilization and HDR features from the Hero 12 Black.
The biggest update this year looks set to be a larger 1,900mAh battery, replacing the 1,720mAh unit in the Hero 12 Black. GoPro is also expected to expand its action camera accessory range with a macro and ultra-wide lens, as well as a Floaty accessory and protective case.
The second GoPro camera is shrouded in even greater mystery. It could possibly be the successor to the GoPro 11 Mini and is said to offer HyperSmooth stabilization and slow-motion video recording. With just two days left until the official launch date, we should have more details about both Hero action cameras soon. But whether September 4th will be the actual release or just a reveal is yet to be seen.
