Elon Musk’s company has resumed flights of its Falcon 9 rocket despite an investigation by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) into the failed landing of the B1062 first stage on the A Shortfall of Gravitas offshore platform on August 28.

SpaceX launched and successfully returned two Falcon 9 rockets in 65 minutes. The carriers launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and Vandenberg Space Center, California, on August 31, launching a total of 42 Starlink satellites into orbit.

“Excellent work by the SpaceX team,” the company’s founder Elon Musk wrote on the X social network.

The launch of the Starlink satellites came a day after SpaceX received FAA approval to resume Falcon 9 flights, but the agency continues to investigate the Aug. 28 emergency landing.

Not much remains of B1062’s first stage after its failed landing. Photographs taken by John Kraus show only a burned-out portion of the rocket engine and broken landing gear.
