In recent weeks Huawei has been the protagonist of many conversations about innovationsomething for which the company no doubt must have been grateful after so many headlines about its blockade in the United States and the suspicions of other Western countries. However, we must remember that even in the face of such a crisis, the Chinese technology company was able to reinvent its design and adapt to the restrictions imposed by the US.
As I say, last month we talked about innovation and about three weeks ago, the president of Huawei, Richard Yu, was seen using a device with a double screen. And as we said, it happened on a commercial flight, which suggests he didn’t have too many reservations about being seen with it. And for those who might think it was a fluke, repeating the same “mistake” about a week later was definitive confirmation that in fact device was “showing”.
It’s not the first time we’ve talked and even seen prototypes that suggest a device with two folds, but this is a format still awaiting a commercial debut, which is why any potential progress along these lines is most interesting. So, Richard Yu’s event generated a lot of interestbringing the conversation back to the fore about the many possibilities that foldable displays provide when it comes to form factors.

Now, until now, the majority opinion was that we would have to wait a while longer for devices like this to see the light of day. However, it seems we were wrong and as we can see in the official announcement on Weibo, Huawei has announced an event where it will show off its dual folding. The event, which will take place on the 10th, and while it does not specifically mention the new device, it provides a visual clue that points in that direction.
However, we have to reckon with that all indications are that what we will see is a prototype, not the final versionand the big question is whether Huawei will also reveal its plans for it, or whether it will be limited to a demonstration of the prototype in operation, which we have already seen “on the street” in recent weeks. Of course, the fact that a visual reminiscent of the same was included in the challenge leaves us wondering if they’re in for an even deeper surprise.
