Google’s Play Store can now install and update three apps at the same time.

According to Android Police, Google’s Play Store can now install or update multiple Android apps at once, up to three apps at a time. This update could significantly increase the efficiency of Android devices. Google itself has not yet announced a launch date, but as a user, you can easily test whether you can install or update three apps at once.

Google’s Play Store is home to a majority of Android apps. For a long time, however, users shared the same frustration: that the Play Store was unable to update multiple apps at once. Until now, if you wanted to install or update apps manually, you could do so app by app. From now on, Google’s Play Store could finally install or update multiple Android apps at once, up to three apps at a time.

Android Police reports that Google has previously tested simultaneous app updates for the Play Store, but will now roll them out to more users. This update should save users a lot of time when setting up a new device or restoring their current phone from a backup. Google has not yet communicated a launch date. The feature is being rolled out widely as a server-side change, so availability may vary.
