A name is just a name, but I will admit that the first reading of the Huawei Mate XP piqued my interest. And although we still have a lot to know about this very interesting project, the simple fact that it already has a specific name encourages us to draw some conclusions that, with the appropriate caveats, are undoubtedly quite promising, pointing in a significantly different direction than we were expecting until yesterday.

Just yesterday, we remembered that about three weeks ago, the president of Huawei, Richard Yu, was seen using a device with a dual-folded screen. And as we said, it happened on a commercial flight, which suggests he didn’t have too many reservations about being seen with it. And for those who might think it was a fluke, repeating the same “mistake” about a week later was definitive confirmation that in fact device was “showing”.

That along with the announcement that took place yesterday that hinted at that this Huawei Mate XT could appearhas already begun to generate anticipation, although the majority opinion was that this first public appearance will be limited to the display of a prototype similar to the one we have already seen on several occasions in the hands of Richard Yu. A prototype that is a big question as to what stage of development it is currently in and this information would allow us to guess its future plans.

Huawei Mate XT, "double fold" now has an official name

Well, as we can read in PhoneArena, Huawei’s double folding already has a name, the Huawei Mate XTwhich is added to the date of his presentation, which we already told you about yesterday. And both figures together prompt us to be particularly optimistic about its immediate future, as the choice of what is to be its definitive name, rather than a codename to identify a prototype or proof of concept, seems to signal the proximity of its launch.

Of course, this does not mean that its launch is imminent.as no information about its manufacturing process has been leaked at the moment, although it is also true that the tech company may have managed to control its entire supply chain. So it looks like the Huawei Mate XT will be unveiled next week and Huawei will announce its launch, at least in China, in the short term. The international market is of course a different story, but at least we’ll know it’s on its way.
