NGO “Human Rights Watch” accused Venezuelan security forces and armed groups associated with the government Nicolas Maduro the “brutal” repressions carried out in recent weeks that have led to all types of human rights violationsincluding killings, arbitrary detentions, unfair trials and persecution of dissidents, and advocated “urgent” international response.

“The international community must take urgent action to ensure that Venezuelans can “Protest peacefully and let your voice be respected.”– asked the director of the American branch of HRW: Juanita Gobertus, who regretted increased repression after the presidential elections on July 28.

The NGO called on international governments to demand independent verification of election results –The National Electoral Council (CNE) has not published a protocol with detailed results– and support international efforts to achieve justice.

Among the violations cited by HRW was the issuance of an arrest warrant for the leading opposition candidate. Edmundo Gonzalez, is being investigated by the prosecutor’s office on the fact public distribution of documents proving his election victory and therefore they will question Chavista’s thesis that it was Maduro who won the elections of July 28.
