Dell and Red Hat are joining forces in a new partnership that brings the Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI platform to Dell’s PowerEdge servers to optimize AI workloads.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux AI (RHEL AI) will find a home on Dell’s PowerEdge servers. This platform is specifically designed for AI applications and uses an AI-optimized operating system. The partnership makes RHEL AI the platform of choice for AI deployments on the Dell PowerEdge R760xa server. With this development, companies can develop, test and deploy large language models (LLMs) for various business applications.
Dell PowerEdge servers are the first servers validated to use RHEL AI. This validation helps organizations implement artificial intelligence and machine learning strategies to scale their IT systems and improve business applications. By delivering a consistent AI experience on AI-optimized hardware solutions, Dell and Red Hat aim to make it easier for organizations to integrate AI into their business operations.
Open source with heart and soul
RHEL AI exudes open source. It leverages open models from parent company IBM and model alignment tools from InstructLab. This combination is delivered as a bootable RHEL image for server deployments in hybrid cloud environments. RHEL AI is also integrated with OpenShift AI, Red Hat’s MLOps platform, which enables scalable model execution in distributed cluster environments.
Nvidia is also getting its foot in the door. The Enterprise Linux AI platform is tailored to Nvidia’s hardware, but the GPUs must be continuously tested and validated. All of this is to develop an efficient and reliable AI environment that meets the growing need of companies to integrate AI into their workflows.
RHEL AI will be available on Dell PowerEdge servers starting in the third quarter.
