Asus launches new laptops with Snapdragon X Plus and Intel Core Ultra Series 2

0

Asus is significantly expanding its Copilot+ range with new laptops during IFA 2024, opting for both the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus and the Intel Core Ultra Series 2.

This year, the IFA is a laptop trade fair. The major PC manufacturers are competing to launch their latest PC models with the coveted Copilot+ label. After MSI, Microsoft, Samsung and Dell, it is now Asus’ turn. The range is being significantly expanded with both Qualcomm and Intel devices.

Snapdragon 835

The Asus Vivobook S15 was launched in June with the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip and is now being released with the slightly cheaper Snapdragon X Plus. The difference between Plus and Elite is the number of cores: eight versus ten. Nevertheless, the Snapdragon X Plus is a more than powerful processor, as our tests showed. The NPU that controls the (limited) AI functionalities is identical.

This device is equipped with a 15.6-inch 3K OLED screen and the total weight of the device remains well under one and a half kilograms. According to Asus, the 70 Wh battery lasts 19 hours on a single charge. The recommended retail price is 1,099 euros including VAT, two hundred euros less than the Elite variant.

The ProArt PZ13 is a convertible and is aimed at graphics professionals. Weighing less than a kilogram, this is one of the lighter copilot+ aircraft currently on the market. The 13.3-inch screen offers 3K image quality in a 16:10 screen ratio.

The device has two USB 4 ports and an SD card reader, which is interesting for its target group. With a full battery, you can play videos in full HD quality for up to 21 hours. The cost price of the ProArt PZ13 is 1,599 euros including VAT.

Intel Core Ultra Series 2

Yesterday, Intel officially introduced the Core Ultra 2 series, Lunar Lake for its friends. The first PCs with this chip will not be long in coming. Asus announces new devices under the Zenbook, Vivobook and Expertbook brands. The devices meet Microsoft’s criteria and will soon receive a Copilot update.

The flagship model for the business market is the Expertbook P5. The laptop features an all-metal design with a 14-inch 2.5K display. Asus boasts of the 48 TOPS that the NPU in the Intel Cora Ultra can achieve, but this number says little about the actual performance of the processor. Asus also provides little concrete information about battery life. In addition to an Expertbook P5, there is also an Expertbook P1 with Intel Core i7 and available in 14-inch and 15-inch variants.

Other models announced include the Zenbook S14 with Intel Core Ultra 9. This device has a 72 Wh battery that should last a long time, although Asus has not made a prediction. The Zenbook S16 offers the same in 16-inch format. Finally, there is the Vivobook S14, the Vivobook Flip 14 and the Vivobook Flip 16 with Intel Core Ultra 7

We have requested more information from Asus regarding pricing and availability of these laptops and will add more information once we receive a response.
