No Man’s Sky is without a doubt one of the prime examples of redemption in video game history. And it’s a very important example to compare with the one we experienced with Cyberpunk 2077, because we can learn valuable lessons from both. Of course, in reality, these conclusions and subsequent lessons should be received and appreciated primarily by the video game industry, which has been performing for some time now, but not exactly for the better.

In case you’re one of those people who don’t know its history, No Man’s Sky hit the market in mid-2016, after a communication campaign that created gigantic expectations because it promised to be a truly revolutionary game. The problem is that their studio Hello Games, he promised much more than he was able to deliver at his launchwhich caused a fierce backlash from the gaming community and especially among those who were excited by the progress and promises that were initially unfulfilled.

We’ve seen a lot of similar cases lately, with high-end products like The Day Before that have preemptively started to disappoint before they even hit the market. However, Hello Games has taken a different route than what we’ve seen in many of these more recent cases. He accepted criticism, minimized his public activity and focused on turning No Man’s Sky into the game they promised it would be. And to be honest, they did. But they didn’t stop there, eight years after its launch, and having already managed to satisfy everyone’s expectations, the studio continues to release updates that make it even better.

Last July, Hello Games released the World Parts I update, which the title actually implies will have a second part. But until he comes, studio surprised by the release of Aquarius, a new update for No Man’s Sky that adds the much-requested fishing mechanic. Like all the previous ones, in this case too we are talking about a free update and its aim is to provide long moments of relaxation and peace, qualities much sought after by many players of this title.

I mentioned earlier another great example of recent redemption, the one signed by CD Projekt RED with Cyberpunk 2077, which, yes, had to say goodbye to the previous generation of consoles, because the attempt to achieve them was one of the main reasons for the initial fiasco. Hello Games with No Man’s Sky marked what we can consider the main benchmark of the Polish studio. And again, I hope this example starts to spread.
