In a few weeks It will be three years since Apple introduced the latest generation iPad Minia small format tablet that, despite being phased out by Steve Jobs, finally saw the light when the founder and spiritual leader of the company had already passed away. And at this point it must be said that Jobs made many excellent decisions, but closing himself off to the possibility of a small-format tablet was not one of them, as evidenced by the success of the smallest of the iPads, which in many aspects is also the most versatile.

As an iPad user since its first generation The arrival of the iPad Mini was a before and after for meto the extent that this smaller version became the one he used most often. Since typing, editing and other tasks are usually done on a PC out of habit and convenience, the Mini size allowed me to start using the tablet for many purposes that neither a laptop nor a full-sized iPad, due to dimensions and weight, was for me practical.

The presentation of the 2021 model also represented a huge qualitative leap compared to its predecessors, it was not a simple update. Apple focused on turning the iPad Mini into an even more useful toolboth by improving performance and adding a good set of new features. The only problem is that this renewal came with a price increase, which increased even more a year after launch, although it was subsequently revised downwards.

We already had news about it at the beginning of this summer and now Mark Gurman has confirmed that the iPad Mini 2024 will be unveiled in October in the event of that, of course, it will still be a while before Apple confirms it, but it will be added to the double keynote format (September and October) that already seems to be standardized for those from Cupertino. Of course, the main question in this regard is whether it will be dedicated exclusively to the new iPads or, on the contrary (and more likely) we will also see the arrival of new computers with the Apple Silicon M4 SoC.

Although Gurman did not comment on the new features that we can expect in the new iPad Mini, it seems that in this case we are not in for as significant a refresh as the last one. Based on the rumors of the last months and in addition to the obvious renewal of its SoC, we find improvements to its cameras, compatibility with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 and new color options. Sounds good, although if Apple added another downward price adjustment it would be perfect.
