Actor James Earl Jones’ death was confirmed on Monday.

He was born on January 17, 1931 in Mississippi, USA.

He had a prolific career, with legendary performances in film, theatre and television.

He is known for his impeccable voice, which we all remember from characters like Darth Vader. Star wars and Mufasa in The Lion King.

For decades, James Earl Jones has played memorable roles in theater, feature films, and television.

He made his big screen debut in Doctor Strangelove in 1963 and worked on more than 50 films, starting with Conan the Barbarian to Field of dreams.

He played “Admiral Greer” in the popular film series based on Tom Clancy’s novels. The Hunt for Red October, the Patriot Game, and Imminent Danger.

One of his favorite roles was that of a South African minister in a classic film. Cry, beloved country.

The American actor overcame a childhood stutter and acquired a loud voice recognized throughout the world.

Jones He laughed when a BBC interviewer asked him if he minded being so closely associated with Darth Vader, a role that required his voice for just a few lines while another actor did the on-screen work in costume.

“I love being part of that whole myth, that whole cult,” he said, adding that he was happy to please fans who had asked him to say the line. “I am your father.”

Jones He said he never made much money playing Darth Vader — just $9,000 for the first film — and considered it just a special effects job. He didn’t even ask to be credited on the first two Star Wars films.

His long list of awards includes Tonys for The Great White Hope in 1969 and Fences in 1987 on Broadway, and Emmys in 1991 for Gabriel’s Fire and Heat Wave on television. He also won a Grammy for best spoken-word album for Great American Documents in 1977.

Although he has never won a competitive Oscar, he was nominated for best actor for his role in the film version of “The Great White Hope” and won an honorary Oscar in 2011. (Reuters)
