A video was released on Monday showing police officers arresting the recipient of the package. Miami Dolphins Tyreek Hill. Police officers reportedly pulled the athlete out of his car and threw him to the ground during a stop before his team’s first match.

The footage begins with a police officer questioning Hill through the open window of his car. Why wasn’t he wearing a seat belt? After a brief exchange, Hill rolls up the window and the officer knocks on it, ordering her to roll it down.

Hill partially rolls down his window and an officer tells him to get out of the car. Another officer quickly approaches, opens the car door and grabs Hill by the neck, forcing him face down on the sidewalk, handcuffing him with one knee pinned to his back.

Officers pick up Hill, still handcuffed, and take him to the sidewalk where they ask him to sit down.

Hill asks them to wait for him because “I just had knee surgery” as another officer grabs him from behind, by the neck, and forces him to sit on the sidewalk.

The Miami Police Department launched an investigation into the matter on Sunday, and one of the officers involved in the incident was placed on administrative duty pending the review.

Hill, a five-time All-Pro receiver, was released and returned to play, scoring an 80-yard touchdown to help the team win 20-17. After the game, he said he obeyed the officials’ orders.

Earlier Monday, the union representing Miami-Dade officers said Hill refused to cooperate when they pulled him over near Dolphins stadium for driving that “put himself and others at great risk.”

Hill was handcuffed for the officers’ safety, Stedman Stahl, president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, said in a statement.

“Mr. Hill, who was uncooperative, refused to sit on the ground and was therefore redirected to the ground.

“Once the situation was resolved within minutes, Mr. Hill received two traffic tickets and was free to drive.”

Stahl said the union would wait for the investigation to be completed, but based on the information available, it supported the actions of its officials.

Hill, who finished Sunday’s game with seven receptions for 130 yards, was noted for putting his hands behind his back to mimic handcuffs. (Reuters)
