Volkswagen raises prices of all internal combustion engine models in Europe

Volkswagen The company needs the money, which it plans to generate not only by cutting costs but also by increasing prices. The automaker is increasing the cost of its gasoline and diesel models in Germany by 2.1-4.2%.

The price hike will affect the entire ICE car range for the 2025 model year, with the exception of the Polo small hatchback. Recommended retail prices rise from €490 ($541) for the Taigo crossover to €2,490 ($2,790) for the flagship Touareg SUV.

The compact hatchback VW Golf has added a maximum of 4.2%, or €1,150 ($1,270). The last day customers can order at the current prices is September 11, with the new price taking effect on September 12.

In addition to price increases for ICE models, VW has also reportedly increased suggested retail prices for optional equipment including sunroofs, spare wheels, upgraded infotainment systems, displays and other optional packages and services.

Only a few months ago, Volkswagen Germany’s chairman and press secretary Achim Scheible said in an interview with a German magazine that a price increase was not necessary. But since then, the situation appears to have changed for the worse. This week, the chairman of the German concern Volkswagen, Oliver Blume, said that the entire European car industry was in an extremely difficult situation.
