Exactly one month ago today, pWe have heard about the Huawei Mate XT for the first time, although not yet by name. It was when Richard Yu, the president of the company, was seen on a passenger plane using the foldable device, which, unlike those seen before, had a screen with two folds. Since there was no information about it until now, the most widespread opinion was of course that it was an oversight on the part of the manager. An opinion that, of course, changed when just 11 days later, Yu was seen again with a folding doppelganger.

This second observation it made us suspect that the official news would not be too long Huawei announced an event scheduled for today, which, while not explicitly stated, included some element in the invite that represented an important clue. And to complete the confirmation that we will finally see the Huawei Mate XT today, the name of the device was leaked a day after the announcement was made. White and in a bottle, a smartphone with a dual composition.

It happened as we expected The Huawei Mate XT is now official though yes, at least initially it’s only debuting in the brand’s local market, which is China. And this step is understandable, since we are talking about a truly innovative device with a relatively high price (19,999 yuan, approximately 2,540 euros at the exchange rate, in its most basic configuration) and which therefore seems appropriate to first evaluate in the single market to check the interest it generates and the volume of sales, rather than trying to debut in multiple markets with the risks that would entail.

The most remarkable thing about this Huawei Mate XT is of course its screen, 10.2 inch LTPO OLED and that it has two hinges that allow one third, two thirds or the entire display to be displayed depending on our needs at any given moment. These are the three modes with their respective screen resolutions:

• One third: 2,232 x 1,008 points.
• Two thirds: 2223 x 2048 points.
• Full screen: 2232 x 3184 pixels.

Already inside we find a Kirin 9010 5G SoCaccompanied by some generous 16 gigabytes of RAM and up to one terabyte of storage capacity. And using a special form factor and design, Huawei has ensured that it can offer a good level of autonomy, relying on its 5,600 milliamps with 66W fast charging.

It is clear that we are faced with a premium device designed for a very specific user profile. However, we can clearly say that the rest of the industry is paying close attention to the development of this Huawei Mate XT in the market, and that if it is successful, could mark the starting point more devices with these specific features.
