Mozilla extends support for Firefox for unsupported Windows versions until 2025.

Firefox sought to lure Chrome users by offering extended support for Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. This was originally planned until September, but now it seems that support for these operating systems will be extended until 2025, Neowin noted. Other browsers, including Google, have already stopped updating their browsers in January 2023.

Funding until 2025

Mozilla has decided to extend support for the Firefox browser to older versions of Windows, reports Neowin. Mozilla had originally planned to end support in September, but this has now been postponed to 2025.

The Firefox release calendar shows that the version of Firefox that supports Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 will receive updates until April 1, 2025. Mozilla offers two ESR versions: 115 for unsupported operating systems and 128 for Windows 10 and newer. Mozilla says there are enough Firefox users on Windows 7 to justify the extensive support.
