Google Chrome is adding three new features that make working with tab groups more enjoyable. You can now save tab groups in the Chrome app on iOS devices and sync them across multiple devices so you can continue your work wherever you are. In addition, Chrome is working on a feature that will proactively suggest pages based on your saved tabs. These features are designed to make it easier for users to stay on top of tasks and revisit favorite websites.
Tab groups, which let you bundle tabs together, have been around for a long time on desktop and Android devices. Now they’re coming to Chrome on iOS, letting you group related tabs on your iPhone or iPad and give them a custom name and color. To do this, long-press on a tab and select “Add Tab to New Group.” Once they’re grouped, you can rearrange them however you like.
Soon, you’ll be able to save and sync tab groups so they’re automatically available across all your desktop and mobile devices. For example, you can continue to view a collection of tabs you’ve created on your desktop at home and add to them on your phone while you’re on the go. This way, you can keep track of ongoing activity without losing your work. Google announced in a blog post that this feature will be coming to Chrome “soon.”
Finally, Chrome is experimenting with another feature that will allow it to suggest pages to revisit based on the tabs you have open on other devices. You don’t have to open the pages for this to happen bookmarkbut Chrome proactively suggests them on your Android, iOS and desktop devices.
