[Advertorial] Brightness without sacrificing deep blacks and vivid colors without unrealistic saturation: graphic professionals need a well-calibrated and high-tech display. MSI meets this demand with its True Pixel Mini LED screens.
It’s not that difficult to create a screen that looks good. Increase the saturation for vivid and bright colors and incorporate deep blacks. Something like that looks attractive, but that’s why what you see on your screen doesn’t correspond to reality.
If you do color-sensitive work on your computer, you need a nice, sharp, clear screen that is also colorfast. In other words, if a dress looks bright red in a photo on your screen, it will be just as red on another good screen or after printing on a professional printer, and not suddenly pink.
Strong together
MSI is meeting this need of graphics professionals by incorporating True Pixel Mini LED screens into its Creator laptop lineup. These displays combine two technologies that work together to provide users with crisp, but also accurate images.
First and foremost is mini-LED technology. Mini LED is a further development of LCD and a technology that stands alongside classic OLED. With an OLED screen, each pixel lights up individually, independently of the pixel next to it. This ensures deep blacks and a nice contrast, but the technology is complex and has limitations, especially in terms of brightness.
Mini LED
Mini LED works like classic LCD screens, with an LCD panel that provides the colors of the pixels and is backlit. Previously, this lighting was done by a handful of lamps that shone through the entire panel. Some light still shone through the black LCD pixels, resulting in a slightly grayer result.
Laptops like the MSI Creator 16 AI Studio are available with a True Pixel Mini LED screen.
In a Mini-LED display, the lighting comes from thousands of LED lights. They only illuminate a small part of the screen and can be turned off in areas where you want the display to be black. Mini-LED allows for deep blacks, just like OLED. Unlike OLED pixels, the Mini-LED lights can shine brightly, allowing the screen technology to have a higher maximum brightness.
For the MSI Creator series mini-LED screens, this means a maximum brightness of 1,000 nits. This is not only visible when watching HDR content, but also ensures that the screen remains more readable when you’re sitting outside or in front of a window on a clear and sunny day.
TruePixel
Mini-LED has a lot of potential, but in itself does not guarantee correct colors. MSI does this itself with its True Pixel screens. This means that the laptop specialist guarantees that the displays cover the DCI-P3 color space 100 percent.
This color space is the standard for professional video editing. Thanks to the complete coverage, you can be sure that the panel can deliver all the details and nuances you expect from your images.
Manual calibration
The question then remains whether these details are displayed correctly. MSI guarantees this by promising a Delta-E of less than two. The Delta-E value refers to the calibration of a screen and indicates the difference between the color displayed and the color that should appear. The smaller the value, the more accurate the display. A Delta-E of less than two is the standard for graphics professionals.
To achieve this, MSI manually calibrates all True Pixel Mini LED screens on its Creator laptops when they come from the factory. The result is a phenomenal average Delta-E value of 0.68. The calibration is further verified by the Calman software. You will receive the calibration report in the box.
MSI provides a Calman calibration report for its laptops with True Pixel screens.
MSI’s True Pixel displays come with a few other guarantees. For example, when you see the label, you know the panel has at least QHD+ resolution.
Colourfast worktop
All of these factors work together to make the True Pixel screens on MSI Creator laptops the perfect work surface for professionals. Mini-LED technology ensures high peak brightness without compromising on contrast. The high resolution makes the panel sharp enough for detailed work, while DCI-P3 coverage ensures the screen can display all the necessary color nuances. Finally, verified calibration ensures that all the color tones you see on the laptop match reality.
