OpenAI’s valuation would have risen to $150 billion in a new round of capital. The company is on track to become the most valuable AI startup.

Two weeks ago, rumors began to circulate around OpenAI that the company was aiming for a valuation of over $100 billion in a new round of capital. Thrive Capital, Microsoft, Apple and Nvidia were already opening their wallets. Now, according to Bloomberg, the valuation seems to have already been raised to $150 billion. CEO Sam Altman wants to raise $5.6 billion in the financing round and raise $5 billion in the form of loans.

Capital round

Venture capital investor Thrive Capital is leading the current investment round. The company is also opening its wallet to buy a piece of Sam Altman’s AI company, just like Microsoft, Apple and Nvidia.

With this round of financing, the CEO plans to raise $5.6 billion and raise $5 billion in loans, according to Bloomberg. At the end of last year, OpenAI was valued at $86 billion, and is now heading for $150 billion, putting the company well on its way to becoming the most valuable AI startup.

Something with strawberries

This high rating could well be due to OpenAI’s so-called Strawberry model. This model is expected to have more advanced reasoning capabilities than GPT-4o. According to sources from The Information, this new model from the ChatGPT maker is expected to arrive within two weeks.
