Donald trump stated that I will not participate in further debates against his rival, Vice President and Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris.
“THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE!” he wrote in capital letters on his social network Truth Social.
The Republican billionaire took part in the first debate against US President Joe Biden in June, leading the president to end his re-election campaign after a disastrous performance.
The second debate took place on Tuesday, with analysts and television commentators declaring Harris the winner.
The Democratic campaign has called for a third debate after this week’s meeting in Philadelphia, but Trump has already lowered expectations for another in-person debate before the Nov. 5 election.
On Wednesday, at an event honoring the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, Trump said he should “think about” whether another debate was necessary because he felt he had beaten Harris and had a “great night.”
Justifying his decision to skip the debate this Thursday, he told Truth Social that “polls clearly show” he has won the verbal duel, adding in all caps:
KAMALA MUST FOCUS ON WHAT SHE HAS BEEN SENT TO DO FOR ALMOST THE LAST FOUR YEARS.
“When a boxer loses a fight, the first thing he says is, ‘I WANT REVENGE,'” Trump said, arguing that since he didn’t lose, he doesn’t need another fight.
That makes Tuesday’s Trump-Harris debate, watched by more than 67 million viewers, the only televised face-to-face meeting between the candidates before the election and the only opportunity for voters to directly compare their proposals. (EFE)
