The provision of several HIMARS missile launchers to Ukraine in the last tranche of defense aid is only a starting point. This was stated by US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Cole during a speech at the CNAS National Security Conference, Ukrinform reported.

The United States will also continue to provide everything necessary to win resistance to Russian aggression.

“We have carried out the “first” episode of HIMARS systems, and as we speak, Ukrainians are completing training (on the development of these systems – ed.),” a Pentagon spokesperson said.

He noted that the US Department of Defense expects the volley fire systems purchased by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to be commissioned soon. The Pentagon’s vice president also reiterated the United States’ commitment to continue supplying Ukraine with these systems and ammunition.

Colin Cole echoed Pentagon President Lloyd Austin’s words in defense against Russian aggression that “the United States is ready to do anything to help Ukraine succeed.” Earlier, Austin assured that the United States and other countries will continue to strive to bring as much support to Ukraine as possible and help the Armed Forces succeed.

It will be reminded that a new meeting of representatives of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine will take place today, on June 15, in Brussels. On June 1, the United States approved a new military aid package to Ukraine that includes HIMARS missile artillery systems and jet munitions. Ukraine will receive weapons under the 700 million dollar aid package.
