The Polaris Dawn commercial mission aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon Resilience spacecraft was successfully completed. The crew returned to Earth today, September 15, 2024, and landed safely in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Florida at 3:36 a.m. local time.

After the crew lowered into the ocean, mission commander Jared Isaacman said:

Our Polaris Dawn mission has been completed. Thank you all for your great help in organizing this mission.

As a reminder, the Polaris Dawn mission saw the first non-professional astronauts in space. The Polaris Dawn manned spacecraft also broke the orbital record of 1966. The crew members include Commander Jared Isaacman, Pilot Scott “Kidd” Poteet, and Mission Specialists Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon. Isaacman is the billionaire entrepreneur behind Polaris Dawn, Poteet is a former US Air Force lieutenant colonel, and Gillis and Menon are SpaceX engineers.
