He Venezuelan President Nicolas Madurocongratulated my colleague from Mexico this Monday, Andres Manuel Lopez Obradorto President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum and the citizens of Mexico for 214th Anniversary of the Cry for Independence.

On the night of September 15-16, priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla began an armed uprising to declare Mexico’s independence from Spain after being warned of the discovery of a plot brewing in the city of Queretaro (central Mexico).

Hidalgo, also called the Father of the Nation, gave the protest “Cry” in the town of Dolores, in the state of Guanajuato, about 300 kilometers from the capital, starting the struggle for independence that ended on September 27, 1821.

On Sunday, Lopez Obrador celebrates his sixth and final call for independence his government (2018-2024), the last mass event in Mexico City’s packed Zocalo, where he flexed his political muscle before handing over to Sheinbaum on October 1.
