10 fast and cheap SSDs

We are at an opportune time to buy any type of NAND flash based product as prices have fallen significantly in the last two years and have yet to go up, which they will soon. At the moment, we can find good prices and a wide range both from large manufacturers (Kioxia, WD, Samsung, Kingston…) and integrators that use previous memories (Corsair, Crucial, ADATA…).

In terms of models, M.2 drives that connect to PCI-Express ports are displacing the classic 2.5-inch drives connected to SATA ports, but they still have a wide range and are cheaper /GB. We’ll leave you with a representative selection from the current range, as well as some external SSDs (with the same benefits as internals) in case you need one for mobility or linking between multiple devices.

• Samsung 980 PRO. One of the fastest Gen4 (7000 and 5000 MB/s), which in this version comes with a cooler, with a capacity of 1 TB and is on sale for 108 euros.
• WD Black SN850X. In the Gen4 elite, we have this version (7300 and 6600 MB/s sequential read/write) with 1 TB of storage capacity for 93 euros. As with most drives, profitability increases with increasing capacity, and the 2TB version costs €162.
• Kioxia EXCERIA PLUS G3. Another mid-range M.2 2280 PCIe Gen4 x4 in features (5000 and 3900 MB/s) and priced at €65 for the 1TB version. The price of the 2TB version is 119 euros.
• Corsair MP700 Pro. For those looking for the fastest drives on the market thanks to their PCIe Gen5 interface connection. They are more expensive compared to Gen4, which costs us 203 euros for the 1 TB version and somewhat cheaper in price per GB for the 2 TB version for 333 euros.
• Crucial BX500. A great representative of SATA drives, slower than PCIe (550 and 500 MB/s), but still widely used. This 500 GB version costs 32 euros.
• Kioxia EXCERIA. Another 2.5 inch SSD, SATA connection and huge versatility as it can be installed in any PC or laptop. It has a capacity of 1 TB and is on sale for 59 euros.
• Samsung T7. One of the best series of SSD-based external storage units. The one we propose connects externally to a USB 3.2 port and with a capacity of 2 TB has a price of 157 euros.
• SanDisk Extreme. Also external and based on NAND flash memories, but in this case with a strong character towards mobility thanks to reduced size and durability. With 1 TB for 94 euros.
