Rockstar Games mistakenly confirmed that GTA 6 will have a PC version. Last week, the company released an update for GTA V and for the launcher that the company uses on the said platform, and in that update they found links to GTA 6 and Red Dead Redemption directories for PC.

The GTA 6 directory is labeled as The Americas Projectwhich is the codename of this game, and it seems that what Rockstar has done with this update is to start preparing a way to achieve full compatibility between it and the anti-cheat system that the company uses with all their games that they have online regime.

When Rockstar realized this discovery decided to remove links to these directoriesmeaning those who haven’t updated GTA V yet won’t be able to see or access them. However, those who updated the game a few days ago still have them available, at least on the Steam version of the game. This may change with a future patch, but for now they are still there.

This is the clearest confirmation yet from Rockstar that GTA 6 will have a PC version. The truth is that it didn’t make sense to think otherwise, because this platform has been essential for Rockstar since its beginnings, and because the compatible versions of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II They made a huge amount of money.

GTA 6 for PC has no release date

But I have a pretty good idea of when that version might arrive. Based on the precedents we have, we can clearly say that Rockstar is taking between five months and one year while launching the PC versions of its star games. The PC version of GTA V took five months after the release of the PS4 and Xbox One versions, and Red Dead Redemption II took a year.

So it is very likely that the PC version of GTA 6 will arrive between half a year to a year after the console version. The sales recorded by said version could also affect this project, for better or for worse. This means that if Rockstar finally releases the game on consoles at the end of 2025, say in the month of October, the version for compatible It could arrive in April 2026 at the earliest.
