Workday introduces AI agents to increase productivity

Workday introduced new AI agents at its annual user conference. These are intended to automate workflows in HR, finance and other business processes.

The new AI agents are part of Workday Illuminate, an enhanced version of the company’s platform. According to Workday, these agents use a sophisticated AI model trained on one of the largest HR and finance data sets in the world and are designed to automate tasks in the areas of recruiting, people management, spend reporting and succession planning.

Workday is also introducing the Workday Assistant, a tool that uses generative AI to help employees with everyday tasks such as searching for information and writing documents. Employees can also use the assistant for real-time guidance in complex processes.

A key feature of the new agents is their ability to automate certain tasks within organizations. For example, the Recruiter Agent can help find suitable candidates, create job descriptions and schedule applications. The Expenses Agent automates the submission of expense reports, while the Succession Agent helps HR teams with succession planning by identifying potential leaders within the organization.

Document intelligence integration

In addition to the launch of AI agents, Workday announced the acquisition of Evisort, a startup specializing in document intelligence. Evisort develops AI modules to analyze documents such as contracts and invoices. This technology will be integrated into the Workday platform in the coming months and will enable users to gain insights from unstructured data and manage contractual obligations.

Workday is positioning itself as a competitor to other major software providers such as Microsoft and Salesforce, which are also relying on AI-based automation. The new tools are intended to help companies increase their productivity by automating repetitive tasks and making workflows more efficient.

Workday emphasizes that its AI agents not only process data, but also understand the context in which that data is used, providing more accurate and personalized insights for businesses.
