The US government will provide financing and delivery to Ukraine of Ilona Maska’s SpaceX Starlink satellite terminals.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to CNN.
On Tuesday, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) announced the supply of 5,000 terminals that will guarantee the functioning of the Internet in Ukraine in the event that Russia destroys its communications infrastructure.
Starlink satellite terminals will provide unrestricted access to the internet anywhere in Ukraine “even if Putin’s brutal aggression leads to the interruption of fiber optic or cellular communications,” USAID said in a statement.
Elon Musk activated Starlink services for Ukraine in February and started supplying terminals.
Remember: SpaceX has launched more than 2,000 Starlink satellites since May 2019 and plans to launch more than 42,000 into orbit over the next few years.
