Google Passkeys can now be synced across multiple devices and platforms. Previously, Google Passkeys was only linked to Google’s password manager app for Android. Now, users can use this secure login tool across Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android. Google Password Manager will then automatically sync the end-to-end encrypted passwords. According to Google, the login tool will soon be available for iOS as well.
Passkeys is a secure login method from Google that is becoming increasingly popular. Since its launch in 2022, Google has counted more than a billion logins using Passkeys, spread across 400 million Google accounts.
Now Google is releasing a new update for the Google Password Manager. Users can now sync their passkeys between multiple devices. Previously, users could only save their passwords in the password manager on Android or had to scan a QR code if they wanted to use the passwords on other devices.
That is now a thing of the past. Passwords can now be saved on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android using Google Password Manager. According to Google, iOS support is coming soon. Once the passwords have been saved, synchronization with other devices is done automatically by Google Password Manager. In addition, Google emphasizes in its blog that the passwords are end-to-end encrypted and cannot be opened by anyone, not even Google.
