The HTC Vive Focus Vision XR is a high-end mixed reality headset that aims higher than the Meta Quest but below the Apple Vision Pro.

HTC is no longer a smartphone brand, but a VR manufacturer under the brand name Vive. Its latest creation, the HTC Vive Focus Vision XR, is a high-end headset aimed at the business market. With its recommended retail price of $999 (price in euros is not yet known), it fills an interesting gap between very expensive high-end headsets such as the Apple Vision Pro or Varjo headsets and the inexpensive Meta Quest 3.

The Focus Vision XR has front-facing cameras for a pass-through effect. You can process the images of the world around you in mixed reality or opt for a completely enclosed VR world.

Just like the previous Vive Focus 3, the HTC Vive Focus Vision XR uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chip and the same 2,448 x 2,448 pixels (120 Hz) per eye. That’s more than what the Meta Quest 3 offers today. Plus, you get a wider viewing angle: 120 degrees.

Finally, you will also find eye tracking in the smart headset. This is useful to better manage the processing power required. Only the direction you are looking at is rendered in high resolution. Everything else around you can be done in low resolution since you are not looking at it anyway.

The headset comes with two controllers or you can use your fingers. You can also connect other peripherals, such as a sensor that you click around your wrist. The headset’s battery lasts up to two hours.

Want to give the headset some extra horsepower? You can then connect it to a PC via the two USB-C ports. You can connect one of them to DisplayPort thanks to an optional adapter.

The HTC Vive Focus Vision XR is available starting at $999. The business version with additional management tools costs $1,299.
