I confess that I have been a big fan of Google Chrome since the beginning. In fact, I am personally a user of the Apple ecosystem and it has been my preferred browser for many years on my Mac, iPhone and Android devices. I have tried several web browsers and although Brave or Opera convinced me, I’ve gotten used to it and I love Chrome..

The truth is that Google Chrome has too much bloatware and recommendations that have damaged the user experience for a long time. What I wanted was more Chrome and less Google. I found it: I tried Kiwi and Bromite but I discovered another free open source browser that conquered me with its lightness and speed. It is now a must have on my Android mobile.

What is Chromite and how does it work?

I mentioned Bromite before, and I did so intentionally because Cromite is a Bromite (and therefore Chromium) fork that is aesthetically reminiscent of the best Chromium. In short, Cromite is a simple browser and this is a virtue that can be seen from how smoothly it works. The fault lies in the fact that it has ad blocking (with Adblock), a complete offer to protect privacy, and no obstructive and confusing add-ons.

The mission of the project as promised Limit features that track usage habits and if this is not possible, disable them, giving the user the freedom to choose what they want to do. In fact, the incognito mode, which works by default, has a long list of functions to protect user data, such as supporting the configuration of ad blockers and filters or disabling smart search with its suggestions.

For example, the first image seen below these lines, Home screen is much cleaner than ChromeIt doesn’t have suggested listings, search suggestions, etc. So you get a search engine, a button to open bookmarks and downloads, and more.

Chromite

At the management level, it is very similar to Google Chrome in terms of menus, but with more and better advanced options. Thus, it supports customization of user agent and Recovers some Chrome features that can be enabled via Chrome Flags.

In summary: Bromide The best of Chrome, but without the worst of Google. It’s great for getting rid of suggestions and taking extreme measures, and it’s a good option for basic or older phones as it works quickly. The only downside I have is that it doesn’t have multi-device syncing, but that’s fine if you have a password manager, bookmarks, and standalone sessions.

Bromide is not available on Google Play Storebut installing it on an Android is not so mysterious: just go to the project’s GitHub to download the APK based on your mobile’s architecture and install it on your mobile or tablet. Of course, it is important to allow unknown sources.
