YouTube Premium is a very interesting subscription. On the one hand, it allows you to have YouTube without ads and some additional options such as a better bitrate or the option to download content to watch offline. On the other hand, it also includes Google’s music streaming platform YouTube Music. Until now, its price was 11.99 euros, but this is starting to change in many countries. Some of them are European.
Increase in prices. Many users are claiming on platforms like Reddit and Twitter/X that Google sent them an email warning about the price increase. According to Google, the increase will occur on November 7th. The reason is unclear, but everything points to a rate adjustment. In any case, we’ve reached out to Google at Xataka for more information and will update when we hear back.
44% price increase, I guess they don’t really want Premium members anymore.

Affected countriesThe price increase is quite generous. A Reddit user has compiled all the countries where the increase has been confirmed (see the table below), and here’s what happens when it comes to European countries like Italy, Ireland, the Netherlands or Belgium: the price of the individual plan goes from €11.99 to €13.99, while the family plan goes from €17.99 to €25.99. We’re talking about an increase of 16 percent and 44 percent, respectively.

What about Spain? For now, our countries are out of the picture. In Spain, we currently have the same price as in Italy before the increase, so it is to be expected that this increase will happen at some point. However, it is a question that we have also raised with Google and will republish here as soon as we get an answer.
YouTube already increased its price last year. In 2023, we are already witnessing a price increase for YouTube Premium. Initially implemented in the United States, months later it reached Argentina, Australia, Austria, Chile, Germany, Poland and Turkey. The increase went from $ 11.99 to $ 13.99, and the family plan now costs $ 22.99. This increase now seems to be spreading to other countries. Spain, as we said, has been spared so far, but everything suggests that this is about to change.
