Is an extension affecting your device’s performance? Microsoft is testing a new feature in Edge to expose low-performing extensions.
Extensions can add useful functionality to a browser, but they can also be a hindrance to your device. When you load a web page, each extension must be processed to add additional functionality. This processing can use up a lot of memory and slow down your device, especially if an extension is not coded properly. Microsoft Edge wants to do something about this.
The latest Canary version of Edge includes a “performance indicator” for extensions you’ve added to the browser. The feature analyzes the performance of extensions and alerts you if there are any problems. The menu shows the impact of the extensions on web page loading times. Low-performing extensions can be disabled with a simple slider.

The feature is available in Edge Canary 130 and can only be added to this specific version. A Canary release is not a stable release and is only available to Edge Insiders. If you are part of it, you can already add the feature Edge://Flags/ In the address bar, type and search for Extension power detector. After reboot the feature will be added.
