Pavlo Durov reported in his new post that the search function is often used by people who sell illegal products in violation of the platform’s rules. Telegram has since devoted resources to improving the security of the search function.
What will change?
Durov emphasized that in recent weeks a team of moderators has been working diligently to resolve this issue with the help of artificial intelligence. As a result, all problematic content found in Telegram search has been removed.
Telegram encourages users to report any remaining dangerous or illegal content via a dedicated @SearchReport channel.
noted Durov.
Telegram has also updated its Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. One important change is the following statement: IP addresses and phone numbers of Telegram violators may be disclosed to relevant authorities in response to legitimate requests.
These updates aim to deter criminal activity on the platform and strengthen Telegram’s commitment to providing a safe environment for its nearly one billion users.
Let’s remind, last week in Ukraine it was proposed to limit the use of Telegram by civil servants. Installing the Russian messenger on official devices is not recommended for civil servants, military personnel and employees of critical infrastructure.
The restrictions do not apply to official channels of state authorities, National Security Council Secretary Oleksandr Lytvynenko said.
