Resident Evil 9 is closer than we expected

Several months have already passed since the beginning of July Capcom officially confirms that Resident Evil 9 was in development. However, it was a confirmation of an open secret, as we already told you earlier this year. Rumors and leaks suggested that Capcom had actually been working on the game since 2018, no less than six years ago. A detail that, of course, the company did not confirm (but did not deny either).

Of course, time is a very important factor in this type of case.for we know that when we speak of the triple A, as it happens, they always last for years, though of course their quantity is variable. So if development had started when Capcom announced it last July, we’d be pretty sure we’d be waiting a few more years to enjoy it. However, things change significantly when you know that they have been working on it since the end of the last decade.

So, Why did Capcom choose this moment to make the announcement? By theorizing, without evidence, we can come to a thousand different conclusions, from launching in weeks to calculating that it is many years ahead, and that they subsequently decided to make it public so that at least there is some official information that allows us to confirm that saga, unlike some of its protagonists, is still alive and well.

Resident Evil 9 is closer than we expected

While we are once again subscribing to the anecdotal information, it seems we already have a question for this answer. And as we read in the Wccfts, Resident Evil 9 will be released in the second half of 2025 and will be announced very soon. Specifically, rumors suggest that this information will be confirmed at PlayStation State of Play tomorrow, September 24, or during the Tokyo Game Show, which opens its doors next Thursday, September 26. A slightly later scenario is also suggested, namely that Capcom will decide on the Game Awards 2024, which will take place on December 12.

Although the Japan trade fair and awards ceremony are two very relevant platforms for this type of announcement, we must not forget thatgood relationship between Sony and Capcom This has previously led to other titles in the saga being announced at PlayStation events, so the State of Play option is also quite feasible. And if we go by Capcom’s usual pattern, we can expect Resident Evil 9 to see the light of day roughly a year after the announcement, which we hope will be soon.
