In recent years, many influencers or companies have had their accounts stolen and crypto advertisements are being made directly from the stolen accounts. The main goal of these crypto advertisements is to trick users into using accounts they think are trustworthy, and interestingly enough, a new one has been added to this list with the official OpenAI X account.

The official @OpenAINewsroom account, which shares developments about OpenAI and has about 54,000 followers, was launched last day. Advertise “$OPENAI” token and shared a post that was quickly deleted when the account was reinstated.

Scammers tried to empty crypto wallets

In the shared post, “We are excited to announce $OPENAI, the token that bridges the gap between exchange and blockchain technology. All OpenAI users will be eligible to claim the initial supply of $OPENAI. Owning OPEANAI will grant access to all of our future beta programs.” The statement was included. The message also contained a link to a fake version of OpenAI’s website with a different URL.

If you go to the link in the message A section to claim $OPENAI cryptocurrency welcomed you. When you click on the option for you, you will be asked to connect your wallet. Scammers can empty your wallet using this method.

Neither OpenAI nor the OpenAINewsroom account have released a statement on the matter. Since the post was quickly removed, it is believed that the account has been taken back, but there has been no official statement.
