Canadian authorities have released footage of an unidentified object that was shot down by a U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor fighter jet over the sparsely populated Yukon Territory in the country’s northwest in February 2023. CTV News in Canada was the first to release footage of the object, known as “Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP) #23.” The term UAP has been used by authorities in the United States, Canada, and other countries in the past to refer to what has commonly been called a UFO (unidentified flying object).

UAP #23 was shot down over the Yukon on 11 February 2023. This occurred two days after another unidentified object, UAP #20, was shot down in US airspace off the north coast of Alaska. A third unidentified object flying over Lake Huron was shot down on 12 February.

UAP image #23 shows the object to be cylindrical in shape, possibly a small, partially metallic cargo balloon, but media coverage was not specific about what type of object it was and what kind of payload it was carrying.
