New problems
As a blogger who posts content across multiple platforms, the views and interactions of his followers are important to Lamar. Unfortunately, the biggest leverage imaginable in this regard lies in Musk’s hands; he owns social network X and can do literally whatever he wants on it. For example, Futurism writes that at one point he shadowbanned views by keeping them to a minimum.
According to the blogger, videos he recently uploaded to X are not only being ignored by the algorithms that push posts into recommendation feeds, but they’re not even being shown to his followers.
As an original content creator, I post my videos on various social media platforms and consistently get thousands of views, but when I share the same content on X, it barely gets 100 views.
– wrote Lamar MK on his page.
It is worth noting that he currently has 1,722 subscribers, and his posts sometimes get less than 100 views. For example, a video where he talks about the “strange noises during the update” of the Cybertruck got only 155 views. At the same time, if you browse his feeds until July, you can find many tweets with seemingly smaller followers, which calmly get more than 2,000 views, attracting the attention of commenters and getting likes.
The author continues: “Meanwhile, there are accounts that blatantly steal content from other platforms, repost it without making any changes or adding any value, and get thousands and millions of views. Worse, these accounts often do not name the authors and instead hide them. This is something that few people notice, mentioned in the comments, and I question the value of my premium subscription, as it does not help increase the number of views on my posts.”
Lamar, who has more than 15,000 subscribers and tens of thousands of views on YouTube, says his content “performs well on other platforms, so it’s not about the quality or appeal of the video.”
Interestingly, the author doesn’t initially suggest that he’s been shadowbanned in any way, but blames it all on subscription issues, noting that some retweets garner millions of views, with all the profits going to the “reposter.” The original post doesn’t collect anything the company has shared with writers recently — no views, no money. In a subsequent post, where the blogger compares the reach of Instagram, which has fewer than X followers but has garnered thousands and millions of views on Reels, Lamar writes:
Either that’s fine or I have no coverage here because I’m shadowbanned.
– noticed.
Lamar MK has a long history of going back and forth between admiring his Cybertruck and complaining that the electric vehicle maker refused to help him when his truck broke down, but he continues to dominate social media about Tesla cars, praising them while also criticizing them.
Looking for a car for every day? The 2024 SUZUKI Vitara Hybrid is a great choice. This crossover features adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring systems, automatic braking, and economical fuel consumption. It’s important to note that it’s currently on sale for up to UAH 86,000.
Elon Musk and his favorite shadow baths
The problem of shadow bans is well known to Ukrainians, especially those who make news, comment on events on the front lines, and organize fundraisers. Elon Musk bought Twitter during a full-scale invasion and began changing its algorithms. Very fast users noticed a significant drop in activityThis became even more apparent when Musk made view analytics more accessible by displaying the relevant icon directly below posts. Posts from accounts with thousands of followers may only get a few hundred views.
In April 2023, someone leaked Twitter’s recommendation algorithm before the company announced itself. Very fast in lines of code It found that Ukraine stands by prohibited topics such as violence and hate speech, fraud and toxic speechThe war on the algorithm has been dubbed the “Ukraine crisis” and has been marked with a “Space Safety Label” that forces the social network to reduce certain content from its feed.
In June of the same year, we published another article, in which it was said that the social network hid Ukrainians and their posts from users from other countries. Firstly, at that time, you would not find keywords related to the war in the search. Secondly, accounts that wrote about the war were marked as “sensitive content”, and the platform began to automatically close their images under a blurred outline and hide the page from everyone who did not uncheck the corresponding box in the settings. Volunteers, activists, military personnel and bloggers were excluded from the search. Even the Dovzhenko Center and the Ukrainian Art History page were among the shadow-banned pages.
Musk, who has made many pro-Russian statements in recent years, has essentially isolated Ukraine in a kind of information bubble, where Ukrainian posts are not visible not only to foreigners but also to Ukrainians themselves. Related blocked pages.
Lamar wore rose-colored glasses
When someone suggested in the comments that X had blocked accounts that were badmouthing Tesla, Lamar tried to rectify the situation:
I personally avoid naming people out of respect, but I also actively promote Tesla and the Cybertruck, which honestly makes me a little embarrassed. They seem to dislike me hahaha. Maybe I’m too honest
wrote.
Reddit users don’t share this approach to the problem, posting screenshots of Lamar’s tweets on the forum, noting that Lamar “slowly realized that Elon Musk had shadow-banned his page.”
