How will it work?

According to The Verge , the new feature allows users to visualize themselves in different scenarios using their own photos. It’s reminiscent of the old face-cutting frames that invited users to depict themselves as astronauts or movie characters, but now those images will be generated entirely by AI.

According to Meta spokesperson Amanda Felix, the platform will generate an image of a user’s face only if the user selects the “Imagine Yourself” feature and accepts the necessary terms. Users will be able to share these AI-generated selfies and even create them in real time.

Why?

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg called it the next “logical step” for Facebook and Instagram, combining AI-generated content with traditional user-generated posts.

Users will have control over this feature: they will be able to block such images from their feeds, but will still be able to share their own creations. Similarly, images that include a user’s face will only be visible to others with the user’s explicit permission.

The feature is currently still in testing, and Meta has yet to say when or how widely it will be available on their platform.
