Canva announces new improvements to its developer platform. For example, premium apps can now be included with the Pro subscription, there is a translation function for apps and new API functionalities. Canva is also increasing the visibility of apps in various places on the platform.
Improvements
New enhancements are being made to Canva’s developer platform. Canva is introducing new APIs available in the Apps SDK. The platform is adding the following APIs: Content Query (Beta), Design Editing (Beta), Tables, and Authentication. In addition, Canva is now also offering a free built-in translation service. Developers can now translate apps into eight different languages to drive internationalization.
Additionally, Canva is improving app visibility. Apps will now appear at the “right time” at various entry points of the UI in the Canva editor. The Canva community will be more likely to discover these apps, from the photo editing panel and Assets tab to the Text Editing tab or in Canva Docs.
Apps are displayed in multiple places
Finally, Canva is offering the opportunity to monetize with its new Premium Apps program. Developers can now include premium features in their apps and get paid for those features based on user interaction. This gives developers the opportunity to create advanced tools and functionality that can be bundled with paid subscriptions. This provides value to Canva’s growing community while reducing the cost of customer acquisition.
