This comes in line with several other hacks in recent months that have led to the accounts of three key OpenAI employees being hacked, including technical director Mira Murati, according to Bloomberg.

What happened

The scammer lured potential victims by claiming that the OpenAI token was somehow “driven by AI-based language models.” He then added a mix of cryptocurrency and AI buzzwords that were likely enough to attract some naive users who lacked sufficient knowledge in either field.

Go to “token-openai.com” showed victims a fake but design-convincing OpenAI siteUsers wanted to connect to their wallets with any key they pressed, and apparently stole everything inside.

It was noted that a large number of fake posts remained in the feed for around an hour before being noticed and removed. The @OpenAINewsroom account apparently did not have two-factor authentication, but it is now back to normal.

According to Bloomberg, OpenAI confirmed the issue and said it was being investigatedYesterday, the company’s security service warned employees that their accounts needed to be protected due to the recent increase in account takeovers.
