The French company Nexter has developed a new version of the main tank of the French Armed Forces Leclerc as part of its modernization program. Defense Blog writes that the improved Leclerc was demonstrated at the Eurosatory exhibition in Paris.
Nexter officials said Leclerc’s XLR program will be the biggest upgrade in a decade. The modernized tank was shown for the first time at Eurosatory.
The tank is integrated into the SCORPION information and control system. Leclerc also bought a new radio station called Contact. Additional protection of the vehicle is provided by mesh screens and dynamic protection blocks.
The arsenal of the modernized tank includes a remote-controlled combat module with a machine gun. The machine was equipped with an upgraded fire control system, which allowed the use of projectiles with a programmable detonator.
