Veeam has announced a new partnership with Palo Alto Networks. The integration combines Veeam’s data resilience with Palo Alto Networks’ AI-driven security solutions. This collaboration is designed to help organizations detect cyberattacks such as ransomware faster and automate their recovery processes. To make this possible, two new applications are being introduced that are integrated with Palo Alto Networks’ Cortex XSIAM and Cortex XSOAR.

With the new apps, Veeam offers the ability to monitor and respond to security incidents in Veeam Backup & Replication and Veeam ONE using bidirectional APIs and syslog functionality, giving organizations greater visibility into security activities and faster response to threats. The integrations are available to Veeam Data Platform Advanced and Premium customers at no additional cost.

Automation and AI against cyber threats

The collaboration responds to increasing ransomware attacks that specifically target backups. According to Veeam’s Ransomware Trends Report, 96 percent of these attacks target backup data. By combining Palo Alto Networks’ detection and response capabilities with Veeam’s remediation capabilities, both parties aim to provide a solution to this growing threat.

The benefits of integration are primarily automation and centralization. Companies can more easily configure security systems and have incidents investigated and handled automatically. This not only helps combat alert fatigue, but also ensures faster incident response. In addition, integration helps companies meet their recovery goals and compliance requirements.
