The new Apple M2 processor is 20% faster than the M1 chip. At least, that’s the assessment of the multi-core performance of the upcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro in the Geekbench benchmark. It is noteworthy that at the WWDC event, Apple said that its new processor is 18% faster than its predecessor, so the Geekbench 5 test is fully consistent with this.
Running at 3.49 GHz, the Apple M2 scored 1,919 points in the single-core test, about 12% higher than the M1, and 8,928 points, 20% more in the multi-core test. For comparison, the results of the Apple M1 chip running at 3.2 GHz in single-core and multi-core tests are 1707 and 7419, respectively.
The Apple M2 processor ships with the new 2022 MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro. “Forgive” will be available for order on June 17, the MacBook Air release date is still unknown.
