Four technology predictions for 2025

>A few days ago we reported on the main technological trends that Gartner experts predicted will dominate companies during 2025. Artificial intelligence as the protagonist of many of them also pointed to some advances in the field of quantum computing, the use of environmental sensors and wireless technologies . tags or, outside of Apple, a certain taste for spatial calculations.

So it doesn’t hurt that we also echo the thoughts of Forrester’s experts, who at their latest Forrester Summit advanced some of what they hope will prevail in the field in perhaps a more “down-to-earth” way. We highlight the following:

The evolution and… probable failure of the agent AI

Agentic AI (which we could loosely translate as Agentic AI) refers to artificial intelligence systems composed of several autonomous agentswho can make decisions and act independently in a specific environment. These agents are responsible for performing tasks or achieving goals within workflows without direct human intervention, cooperating with each other, or interacting with other systems.

An example of agent AI is an ecosystem in which an AI agent on the AWS platform coordinates its actions with an agent at Microsoft and another at Salesforce to achieve specific business goalssuch as automated supply chain management, customer service or data analysis.

For CIOs, the theoretical benefits of this deployment are more than interesting, as it promises greater efficiency and automation in complex processes. However, it is not easy to implement, and at the current state of testing and development of this type of solution, Forrester estimates that 75% of projects launched in 2025 are likely to fail.

More investment in private cloud

More and more companies are moving to the private cloud. Far from slowing down, Forrester estimates that investments in this type of cloud will grow by at least 20% in 2025.

According to the consulting firm’s experts, this growth will be driven both by a certain repatriation of load from the public cloud, and especially in Europe control pressure. In this sense, Forrester points out that in particular the sovereign cloud offering developed by companies such as Ovhcloud, Oracle or even Google itself will continue to gain strength in highly regulated environments.

CISOs are moving away from generative AI

Despite the potential of generative AI in all types of sectors, including cybersecurity, CISOs seem to have concluded that efforts it’s not worth it. So much so that, according to Forrester, investments in this type of technology will drop by 10% in these departments.

The main issue is that it takes security teams longer to use generative AI than not, according to analysts, highlighting that it takes approx. 40 hours of training for security teams to start using generative AI tools.

Additionally, as CISOs face budget constraints, it will be difficult for them to invest in the technology without concrete examples of its security effectiveness, unlike other AI applications such as machine learning.

Technological risk is increasing

By 2025, approximately 60% of organizations will identify technology risk as your most important business strategic riskwarns Forrester.

Technology is changing the way companies create value and improve their business models. It is already part of the equation in any future business consideration, so if the associated risks (especially security) are not considered, the organization’s ability to deal with other external risks will be reduced.
