Oclean X Lite toothbrush, analysis: light and smart

In today’s market, electric toothbrushes have gone from luxury to affordable tools to improve everyday oral hygiene. Oclean is one company trying to gain a foothold in this increasingly competitive industry with one of its latest launches, the Oclean X Lite, a smart sonic toothbrush at a fairly affordable price. We had the opportunity to test it and see what its characteristics are.

After opening the box, we find a brush with a modest but careful design and quite light, complete with only a head and a small charging cable.

What makes Oclean X Lite “smart”?

The Oclean X Lite is positioned as a “smart” toothbrush, but what does that really mean in terms of functionality? Its main technological strength is the smart screen that allows you to see the cleaning data in real time and shows you the areas that you did not clean properly (marked in orange) so that you can check them if necessary.

Through the 6-axis gyro sensor, the brush monitors the cleaning of all 8 dental zones and provides additional guidance if you missed one. This is an interesting feature as it is not common for brushes in this price range. However, the lack of a mobile app can make the screen useful but a little annoying to look at while cleaning. It is not easy to visualize data and brush at the same time.

Brushing modes for every situation

Oclean X Lite offers five cleaning modes, making it a versatile tool for different oral needs. These modes include: daily cleaning, deep cleaning, whitening, gum care and soothing massage. This variety is perfectly suited to adapt to each case and above all to adjust the strength of the brush.

One of the claims of this brush is Maglev technology, which simply means that the brush uses a magnetic levitation motor that reduces energy loss, which translates into more efficient cleaning, up to 72,000 movements per minute.

In addition, the brush head has Dupont brand diamond bristles that ensure a deep but gentle cleaning of the gums. The “W” shaped head design is also designed to reach difficult areas such as the spaces between the teeth. However, it would be an added value if the package included an extra head, as it is not the most widespread brand and spare parts can only be purchased from its official website for now.

Charging and autonomy

One of the biggest draws of the Oclean X Lite is its long-lasting battery that can last up to 40 days of use with a two-minute clean. But considering that three of the five cleaning modes take 2 minutes and 30 seconds, and that I use them the most, the battery lasts about 30 days in my experience. This is quite good autonomy compared to other competitors, in addition to the fact that the charging connector is USB-C.

There’s a slight annoyance here though, and that’s that the charging port is at the base of the brush, which means you have to leave it lying around while it’s charging. This might not be a big deal, but it’s not the most practical if you’re used to brushes that can stand upright on their stand while charging.

In addition, although this is a brush concept that would be quite convenient for travelers, due to its lightness and long autonomy, it does not include a carrying case, or even a protective cover for the brush itself.

The brush is IPX7 certified, waterproof and can be submerged up to one meter deep without damage. This makes it safer to place in the bathroom and is even an option for those who brush their teeth while showering.

Conclusions

The Oclean X Lite offers a solid offering, especially considering its price of €49.90. The combination of advanced technologies such as a smart screen and sensors for real-time monitoring, battery life or five cleaning modes make it an attractive choice for those looking for more than just a simple electric toothbrush.

However, it also has some weak points that need to be taken into account, such as the absence of an application to facilitate the monitoring of brushing, the absence of accessories such as a case or additional heads, or the inconvenience of wearing it in a horizontal position.

The Oclean X Lite toothbrush is available in two colors (grey and blue) on the official Oclean website at a price of €49.90.
