The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is an affordable variant within the Galaxy S24 series that makes remarkably few compromises.

And suddenly there is the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: officially announced without much fanfare and available immediately. Six months after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 devices, the manufacturer is delivering a so-called Fan edition which still offers strong specifications at a more competitive price.

At first glance, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE looks very similar to the Galaxy S24 Plus. This can be a bad sign, we found in our Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus review that the device has no right to exist, but now the situation is different. The S24 Plus came onto the market at a price that was far too high. The Galaxy S24 FE puts an end to this and starts at 749 euros including VAT, almost 400 euros cheaper than the S24 Plus.

Interesting compromises

All functions and options of the current S24 devices can also be found in the S24 FE. All AI features are there. However, Samsung has very subtly reduced a number of specifications that may make little difference to you. An overview with the S24 FE first and the S24 Plus in brackets:

• Amoled screen with 1,900 nits peak brightness (2,600 peak)

• No always-on screen (but on the S24 Plus)
• 8 MP telephoto lens, 3x optical zoom (10 MP variant)
• 12MP wide-angle lens (also 12MP but better quality)
• Optical fingerprint sensor (ultrasonic)
• 4,700 mAh battery (4,900 mAh)
• 25 watt charging (45 watt fast charging)

That seems like a long list, but you won’t experience many things as fundamentally different. Due to the significant price difference compared to the S24 Plus, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is potentially a very interesting device. Whether this is also the case in practice remains to be seen.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is now available in four colors: blue, graphite, mint and yellow. The recommended retail price for the 128 GB version with 8 GB RAM is 749 euros. The version with 256 GB of storage costs 809 euros. All prices include VAT.
